Ryan Doran

I’ve been in Support and IT Operations since 2002, when I started working for the local Cable ISP in my area as a Tier 1 Support Rep. During the twelve years with my employer, I worked in Tier 1, 2, 3 roles and as an Abuse Rep. While working in the Tier 1 – 3 roles, I held a Lead / Senior title and supported my teammates and Management.

After leaving that employer in 2014, I held a Help Desk Technician position where I worked with a small team that directly supported 26,000 employees. We assisted employees with software installs, hardware deployment and Active Directory relate issues such as permissions and password resets.

From Help Desk Technician to Technical Solutions Specialist. I was with my former employer for over ten years, beginning as a Technical Solutions Specialist, before promotions to Lead and Supervisor. I’ve often described this team as a mix between Tier 4 Support for your ISP and Junior Email Admin. As we were the email host for several clients, we also handled support for those clients on our end and much of that was done through Command Line tools. The rest done through internally created tools.

In the last year, I completed the Google Cybersecurity Certificate and started studying for the CompTIA Sec+ Certificate. My goal at the start of learning Cybersecurity had been to increase my knowledge and become a subject matter expert for my team. Now the goal is to fully move into that field and leverage my 22 years of experience in IT and Support to make Cyberspace a safer place.
